1.
Tuqiu is an ancient place name and was once a small state. The royal family used Tuqiu as their surname. This is not an original invention.
2.
During the Warring States period, Fuma (imperial son-in-law) was an official rank in the State of Qin. The husband of a princess was not yet called Fuma, but was instead referred to as Lord-Consort or State-Consort. The title of this novel uses Fuma for clarity and simplicity, but the text will still use the term Zhuxu.
Synopsis:
Tuqiu Jiu blinked, and when he opened his eyes, he found himself in the State of Qin during the Warring States period, just as King Zheng of Qin was beginning his great undertaking of unification.
He was then dealt a somewhat difficult hand—he was of Han nobility, but the State of Han had already been conquered by Qin. As the eldest legitimate son, he had a vicious stepmother and several foolish brothers. He lived in a house that let in the wind from all sides, and his food and clothing were no better than a servant’s. He was even implicated in the case of the sudden death of Princess Huazhang’s future Zhuxu, leading to his entire family being thrown into prison.
To save his life, Tuqiu Jiu used every trick up his sleeve to crack the case and rescue himself.
Just as he was working hard to rid himself of his scum parents, earning a noble title by improving agricultural tools, and rolling up his sleeves to find ways to increase agricultural production, he was chosen as the next Zhuxu for Princess Huazhang.
On the night before his wedding to Princess Huazhang, he had a dream and realized he hadn’t traveled into history, but into a novel.
The protagonist of the book was Prince Huazhang, who had been forced to dress as a woman since childhood because of an alchemist’s prophecy.
After the death of the First Emperor of Qin, Princess Huazhang—devastated by his father’s passing—was forced to face Hu Hai’s usurpation and the suicide of his closest elder brother, Fusu.
Overnight, Huazhang’s family was destroyed and his home lost. Most of his siblings were even hounded to their deaths.
The moment the poisoned wine was delivered to him, he instantly blackened. He led his subordinates to overthrow Hu Hai’s rule, became the monarch of Great Qin, and sought vengeance for his father and brother.
But at the same time, the unextinguished hatred in his heart turned him into a tyrant.
The clans of Zhao Gao and Li Si were slaughtered; even those with the slightest connection to them had their nine generations exterminated.
Even a single bad word spoken about the late Emperor or Prince Fusu would result in one’s tongue being ripped out and being cast into prison.
For a time, the entire State of Qin fell into a new reign of terror, and everyone lived in constant peril.
After waking from the dream, facing the “Princess” who wanted to consummate the marriage on their wedding night, and remembering his potential for madness…
